WAEC released the 2026 May/June WASSCE results on Wednesday, 5 August 2026. Check yours now at waecdirect.org with your exam number and a result checker card. Of the 1,950,726 candidates who sat, 1,200,514 (61.54%) obtained credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
Results for 116,031 candidates were still being compiled at release, and 167,486 are withheld over suspected malpractice — see incomplete or withheld results before you panic.

Digital certificates are available within 48 hours of checking online; hard copies follow within 90 days. The portal is slowest in the first day or two after release — if it times out, retry at an off-peak hour.
How to check your result on waecdirect.org
You need four things: your 10-digit examination number, the examination year, and the serial number and PIN from a result checker card.
- Open waecdirect.org.
- Enter your 10-digit WAEC examination number.
- Enter 2026 as the examination year.
- Select the examination type — WASSCE School Candidates for the May/June exam.
- Enter the card’s serial number, then the PIN revealed under the scratch panel.
- Submit. Your grades load in the same window.
One card checks one examination number up to five times. The five checks are tied to the first exam number used, so a card cannot be shared between two candidates. Print or screenshot the result on the first successful check rather than spending attempts re-opening it.
By SMS
Send WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear to 32327 — for example WAEC*4123456789*123456789012*2026. It costs ₦30 per check on MTN, Glo and Airtel. You still need a card for the PIN.
Lost your card serial or PIN
WAEC runs a retrieval service at serial-pin.waec.org for a card you already bought. If you never had one, you need to buy a card.
Getting a result checker card
WAEC does not sell checker cards to candidates directly — they come through licensed distributors and resellers, online or at a cyber café. Expect to pay somewhere around ₦5,000–₦6,000 for a WASSCE card; below that range, be careful about who you are buying from.

Two warnings worth reading before you pay anyone:
- Nobody can “upgrade” a WAEC grade. Every offer to do so is a scam, and attempting it risks your result being cancelled outright.
- Results are out, so a card you buy now gets used immediately. Buy only from licensed sellers — each cycle brings reports of one card resold to several buyers.

Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and Liberia

If your result is incomplete or withheld
For 2026, 116,031 results were still being compiled at release, and 167,486 (8.59% of candidates) are withheld while WAEC investigates examination malpractice at their centres. In both cases the portal shows a note instead of grades for the affected subjects.
A result marked as still processing usually resolves without you doing anything — check again after a week. A withheld result is a WAEC decision and only WAEC can lift it; contact them through waecdirect.org or your school. We cannot influence either outcome.
After you have your result
- Applying to university this year: upload your result to JAMB CAPS once grades are out. Institutions screen on the O’level result plus your UTME score.
- Missing five credits including English and Mathematics: the GCE 2nd Series (Nov/Dec) is the resit route. Standard registration closed on 31 July 2026 — see GCE registration and key dates for late options.
- Result needs verifying for NYSC or an institution: that is a separate verification PIN, not a checker card. Checking your own grades and proving them genuine are two different services.
